Mother’s Day
The Bible contains many stories about moms with tremendous faith. This should not surprise us; being a mother requires a great deal of trust in God. Take, for example, the story of the Canaanite woman who approached Jesus with deep concerns for her child. She certainly took her cares to the right place; but, Jesus's response is not what we would expect. At first he seems to ignore her. And when he finally does answer her, his reply looks a lot like an insult. Why did Jesus seem so hesitant to assist this distressed mother? And why does it sometimes feel as if He is reluctant to answer our prayers today?
