The Reason We Believe It
From Series: "Reason for the Resurrection"
If Jesus really rose from the dead, it changes everything! That’s exactly what Peter declared on the day of Pentecost. Standing before a crowd in Jerusalem, he didn't offer vague encouragement or a call to be more religious. He pointed to one fact that changed history: "God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it" (Acts 2:24). The resurrection wasn't an afterthought or some comeback story. It was the proof that Jesus is who He claimed to be—and that God’s plan was unfolding all along. Athanasius, writing in the third century, spoke of its impact on the Christians of his age: “Before the divine sojourn of the Savior, even the holiest of men were afraid of death, and mourned the dead as those who perish. But now that the Savior has raised His body, death is no longer terrible, but all those who believe in Christ tread it underfoot as nothing, and prefer to die rather than deny their faith in Christ.” The resurrection truly changed everything for them! And it still has that power today. Join us over the next three weeks as we celebrate the resurrection, and along the way, discover the reason we believe it, the reason God did it, and the reason it still matters today.
