Christianity is different from ALL other world religions. This distinction is never more visible than in the opening words of Moses’s instructions to Israel; "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might" (Deuteronomy 6:5). On this statement, according to Jesus, all laws of obedience follow (Matthew 22:34-40).
We see in this simple observation the type of relationship our God seeks. All other so-called faiths skip this essential step of love and launch instead of pursuing relentless compliance. Fortunately, the God of the Bible did not demand, "obey me with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might." He calls first for love!
But consistent love is difficult for fallen creatures. The "whole being" love sought by God is more challenging still. And loving God, who we have not seen, seems far outside our reach (1 John 4:20).
Join us as we begin a new study through the parables of Jesus in the Gospel of Luke. In these short stories, Jesus offers answers to some of our deepest questions. And no question is deeper than this; How do we begin a journey towards greater love for our Creator?
